As Newsletter Editor for The Baltimore Banner, James is responsible for overseeing all of the newsroom's editorial and breaking news email products. Prior to joining The Banner's audience team, he led global newsletter strategy for The Drum and was the managing editor of Smerconish.com. Originally hailing from Melbourne, Australia, James grew up in Philadelphia and cut his teeth as a journalist at The Daily Pennsylvanian, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Philadelphia Citizen. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg School for Communication and was awarded the Carolyn Marvin Award for Free Speech and Assembly for doing the most in his graduating class to "advance understanding of the importance of free speech and assembly in a democratic society." He recently became an American citizen, but still says "mate."
