As the first week of 2025 kicks in, so will more winter weather in the Baltimore region. The end of the week is expected to bring a mix of rain and snow, while on Sunday and Monday there’s a chance of accumulating snow.

Starting Thursday, the weather might not seem likely for snow, with a high of 41 degrees and dry conditions, but the temperature will drop through the afternoon and evening, said Erik Taylor, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

The low temperature through the evening will be 28 degrees with winds from five to 10 mph, he said.

The Baltimore region will wake up on Friday morning to a chance of rain and snow. By 1 p.m., that mix will begin to move across the region. The precipitation will be above freezing, Taylor said, so there will just be a light snow dusting on grassy and elevated surfaces.

By 10 or 11 p.m. Friday, the precipitation will exit the region, but temperatures will stay low, which could make icy conditions on nontreated surfaces, he said.

The weekend will be dry and cold with a high of 34 degrees and winds from 15-20 mph.

Winter weather will make its way back to the region by Sunday evening with a low temperature of 25 degrees and a storm system through Monday, Taylor said.

While there’s a chance of snow, Taylor said the mix of precipitation and the total accumulation is still unknown for the storm system. NWS will post updates online at weather.gov/lwx.
