As the California wildfires ripped through buildings, displacing more than 180,000 people and killing at least seven, the impact of the devastating flames across the country were felt in Baltimore.
Several Marylanders who now call Los Angeles County home have been evacuated and forced to leave behind destroyed houses.
One of the thousands homes lost was actress Anna Faris’ mansion in the Pacific Palisades. Her 4,000-square-foot home burned down Wednesday, leaving only rubble in its place. The Baltimore native and her family were unharmed from the fires, according to People.
“Anna and her family are safe and very grateful,” a representative for Faris, told People.

One of the familiar Maryland faces with loved ones affected by evacuations was California-born WJZ Anchor Denise Koch. Her father was safely evacuated from his home in Sierra Madre, which has been heavily impacted by the fires.
“Thank you very much for your evacuation efforts,” Koch said on a WJZ segment to Laura Aguilar, the deputy city manager of Sierra Madre. “I have an elderly father who lives on Grand View Avenue and because of your critical response teams he was evacuated in the middle of the night and he is safe now.”
Another Baltimore transplant from California is Sarah Simington, the owner of Baltimore staples Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point and Blue Moon Too in Federal Hill. She posted on Instagram Thursday her appreciation for the first responders working to stop the fires and save people and buildings.
