It’s another cold morning in Maryland, as overnight temperatures dropped back into the teens.
A Canadian cold front will approach the region on Tuesday, and a winter weather advisory has been issued for much of Maryland from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Light freezing rain, snow and even some sleet pellets (for Western Maryland, mostly) are expected starting Tuesday morning. Highs on Tuesday will reach the low 40s.
The Maryland State Highway Administration urged drivers to limit nonessential travel on Tuesday morning due to potential icy conditions.
In a release Monday, officials advised drivers to clear all snow from their cars before driving, slow down and move over for emergency equipment. The MSHA also advised driving with extra caution on bridges, overpasses and ramps, as they tend to freeze first.
Christmas Day and the beginning of Hanukkah are expected to remain dry, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 40s.
Thursday will also be mainly dry, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-40s. Temperatures will stay in the mid to upper 40s, near seasonal averages, as we head toward the end of the week.
Our next chance for rain likely won’t come until the final weekend of the year.
Stay warm, Maryland!
