Baltimoreans could see snow, sunny skies, rain and a cold front that drops temperatures to the single digits all within the next five days, according to the latest forecast from National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

On Wednesday morning, the NWS issued a small craft advisory for the Baltimore harbor area ahead of 34 mph wind gusts and placed much of the region under a hazardous weather outlook from Thursday to Tuesday. The Baltimore City Health Department issued a Code Blue extreme cold advisory until Thursday.

Snow is possible on Thursday and Sunday in the region. A tenth of an inch of snow is expected to fall starting after 1 p.m. tomorrow, said Anna Stuck, a meteorologist with the NSW Baltimore/Washington office. There aren’t yet snowfall predictions for Sunday.

Stuck warned weather in the Baltimore region is expected to be “quite a roller coaster” well into next week. Though snow will fall tomorrow, Friday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 42 degrees, which could be a saving grace for Marylanders still shoveling snow from last week.

“Anything that falls will likely melt, including snow that’s already on the ground,” Stuck said.

Rain is likely Saturday afternoon well into Sunday morning before wintry precipitation begins Sunday afternoon, according to the NWS forecast.

Though Baltimore can expect sun again for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, temperatures will drop. On Monday, the NWS predicts a high near 28 and a low around 9 degrees.

“In the wake of that cold front from Sunday to Monday, we have arctic air moving through the area from the west,” Stuck said, causing a drop in temperatures.
