Snow and a mix of winter precipitation are forecast across the Baltimore region this week. While less than an inch of snow is expected, commutes could be affected, according to the Baltimore/Washington office of the National Weather Service.
The NWS predicts snow and sleet on Wednesday before 10 a.m., with the possibility of continued snow between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Wednesday night into Thursday morning could bring snow, sleet and freezing rain, which NWS meteorologist Chesnea Skeen said could impact commutes on Thursday morning.
Rain and snow are also in the forecast on Saturday, and rain is likely to fall on Sunday.

“This is a pattern that we’re in right now. It’s set up to where we’ll get a series of weak, low-pressure systems,” Skeen said. “That’s the general pattern for probably the next week or so, until mid-February, until we get a pattern change.”
The type of precipitation — freezing rain, snow or sleet — will be determined by the temperatures, Skeen said, which will vary throughout the week.
On Wednesday and Saturday, when it’s most expected to snow, temperatures will reach a low of around 32 to 34 degrees. On Thursday and Saturday, when rain is expected, temperatures are forecast to reach a high between 55 to 60 degrees.
With the up-and-down temperatures, not much snow accumulation is expected. According to Skeen, the NWS anticipates less than an inch of snow to fall in Baltimore, and it may be less than that, factoring in the other forms of winter precipitation, such as sleet and freezing rain.
Skeen recommends giving yourself enough time for commutes and watching where you step outside so as to not slip on any ice.
