It may only be Wednesday, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the weekend. And in this instance, the weekend could mean more snow for the Baltimore region.
The current forecast from the National Weather Service shows Baltimore with a chance of snow Friday night into Saturday, with temperatures between 28-37 degrees.
The “most likely” scenario for the Baltimore region is an additional 1/2 to 2 inches of snow, said Jeremy Geiger, a meteorologist at the Baltimore/Washington Office of the National Weather Service. He said the “worse case” scenario in terms of accumulation would be 3-4 inches.
Geiger said the NWS would have greater confidence in a forecast, including the timing of snowfall and how much precipitation could accumulate, as the weekend approaches.

Between Wednesday afternoon and Saturday, temperatures in Baltimore are forecast to only briefly rise above freezing.
And though sunshine can melt snow — and the forecast is calling for clear or mostly skies — Geiger said the region is “not going to melt all the snow probably anytime soon.”

If you’re a fan of snow, that’s a good thing. The Baltimore region kicked off the new year with an old-fashioned snow day. The winter storm brought more than 6 inches of snow to parts of Howard and Anne Arundel counties, while Baltimore saw a bit less.
Schools in the region closed for multiple days, delaying a return from the holiday break for some students. Temperatures are expected to climb above freezing on Sunday, so any snowfall could melt before it interferes with school next week.
Crucially, if you’re looking to watch the Ravens take on the Steelers at M&T Bank this weekend, you’ll want to keep an eye on the sky. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Saturday, and the forecast for Baltimore has snowfall stopping by 1 p.m. that day.
Snow or no, the forecast says temperatures could fall as low as 26 degrees Saturday night, and that’s without factoring in wind. So if you go down to the Bank, be sure to bundle up.
