A federal grand jury has added three charges against a former teacher at the Gilman School accused of victimizing a student and recording videos of the sexual abuse.
Chris Bendann, 39, of Baltimore, had been facing a total of six charges in U.S. District Court in Baltimore: five counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of possession of child pornography.
A superseding indictment returned on Wednesday contains two additional counts of possession of child pornography and one count of cyberstalking.
Federal prosecutors allege that Bendann demanded contact and explicit material of the minor and threatened to publicly expose images if he did not comply with the demand.
His attorney, Christopher Nieto, could not immediately be reached.
From 2007-2023, Bendann worked at the independent, private all-boys school in Roland Park in Baltimore. He has maintained his innocence and once held a news conference on the steps of the Baltimore County Courts Building in Towson during which he accused law enforcement of defaming him.
Bendann is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 9 for a pretrial conference. He’s being held in the Chesapeake Detention Facility, according to jail records.
