A Prince George’s man serving time at a state prison in Allegany County has been killed, and Maryland State Police have classified the death as a homicide.

Marvin Brown, 23, was found unresponsive at around 9:30 a.m. Friday in his cell with multiple puncture wounds, State Police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency service personnel.

Another inmate has been identified as the attacker, police said. Police are withholding his name pending charges being filed.

Brown was at the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland. In May 2019, Brown, then 18 years old, was one of two men charged in the fatal shooting of Terrell Caldwell. Caldwell, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown pleaded guilty in March 2023 to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
