A 6-year-old boy who died after being found in the water Friday morning in Dundalk was rescued from the middle of a road hours earlier, Baltimore County Police said.

Police said Marcel Traore was initially found at 2:50 a.m. after a resident called 911 to report a child in the road. An officer picked up Marcel and returned him to family members around 3:30 a.m., police said.

Family members later called police at around 7 a.m. to report Marcel missing. Police launched a search shortly thereafter when family members reported last seeing the boy at about 5 a.m., police said.

Crews, including about 25 divers, searched the waterfront Lynch Cove area, which includes multiple private slips for boats. Traore was found around 11:30 a.m. and rushed to an area hospital.

Baltimore County Police Department said that he died at the hospital. Police say at this point nobody has been charged with the death.

It was not immediately clear where in the area he was found, or how deep the water was.
