Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a “targeted” shooting that left a 24-year-old man dead Monday night in Severn.

Police said they found the victim, Karon Makhai Cann of Severn, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds in front of a home in the 1700 block of Sea Pine Circle.

Officers administered medical aid to Cann before county fire department workers transported him to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives said the preliminary investigation showed that “this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence.”

The investigation is still ongoing and detectives are asking the public for any information that could help.
