Baltimore Police arrested a city man in connection with a fatal shooting on a bus downtown in late November.

James Richburg, 61, was captured on Monday afternoon while he was riding an MTA bus in the 1600 block of North Fulton Avenue, police said in a release Wednesday.

Richburg is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and other offenses, according to online court records. He did not have an attorney listed as of Wednesday afternoon.

On Nov. 30, officers responded to the unit block of South Eutaw Street for a reported shooting on an MTA bus. They found William Womack, 30, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, according to police spokesperson Vernon Davis.

Womack was trying to get off the bus when he bumped into Richburg, according to court records. The two started arguing before Richburg pulled out a firearm from his waistband and then shot Womack once in the chest, court records say.

Both Womack and Richburg ran off the bus onto Eutaw Street, according to court documents. Womack collapsed to the ground, while Richburg fled.

Medics transported Womack to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. According to charging documents, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the manner and cause of death as a homicide by single gunshot to the chest.

Police said Richburg was taken to the Central Booking intake facility, where he is being held without bail.
