The sickest part of your next doctor’s appointment might just be the pristine views of Lake Kittamaqundi.
A new four-story medical office building known as 10285 Lakefront has opened on the downtown Columbia lakefront’s southern shore along Little Patuxent Parkway next to Whole Foods. Howard County leaders on Tuesday cut the ribbon on the Howard Hughes development project, which comes with a boardwalk-style public terrace and direct access to the lake’s trail system.
It’s a location where patients and providers can arrive on foot or bike if they so choose, said Kristi Smith, president of the Maryland Region for Howard Hughes. The building offers bike storage as well as electric vehicle charging stations in the underground parking garage.
“We think it’s tremendous,” Smith said of the project. “It’s just another way to continue to activate the lakefront.”

Half of the 86,000-square-foot property is already leased to four tenants: Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland, Chesapeake Medical Imaging, Prime Facial Plastic Surgery and ENTAA Care.
10285 Lakefront is the latest project completed under the Downtown Columbia Plan, a 30-year blueprint for redeveloping the community’s center. Other development projects tied to the plan include the Merriweather District.
