Police have identified the security guard who was fatally shot while working at a McDonald’s in Northwest Baltimore on Sunday.

Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the fast food restaurant on the 4400 block of Reisterstown Road around 4 p.m., where they found Jamal Davis, 38, with gunshot wounds. Police said Davis was shot at the entrance to the restaurant during an altercation.

The McDonald’s at the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Cold Spring Lane in Central Park Heights has been a fixture in the neighborhood for almost two decades, according to restaurant owner and operator Danitra Bell.

“I am in shock and completely devastated by the tragic and senseless act of violence that occurred at my restaurant this afternoon,” Bell said in a statement, according to WJZ. “My condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones — especially his son.”

The McDonald’s location is across from a handful of other fast food restaurants, as well as a grocery store and other shops along nearby Park Heights Avenue.
