It’s the week before the holidays, and Baltimore County has plenty of ways to celebrate, from a holiday light festival to a Hanukkah bash. Here are seven things to do in the county this weekend to get in the holiday spirit, however you celebrate.

Holiday Light Spectacular

The Maryland Holiday Light Spectacular will continue through Dec. 30 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. There are more than a million holiday lights, dozens of displays and oversized snow globes to feast your eyes on while holiday music lilts in the background. There are also children’s activities, ballerinas and a live Santa every night. Tickets range from $10 to $15 for general admission and $39 for VIP admission.

Ice cream factory

The Prigel Family Creamery on Long Green Road in Glen Arm invites dairy enthusiasts into their ice cream-making room to create flavors. Everyone can take home their pint of custom-made ice cream, which can be topped with sauces and other goodies. The event runs from Friday to Monday. Tickets are $26.

Folk music night

Perry Hall United Methodist Church is hosting its monthly open mic Folk Music Night from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. This month, it features D.C.-based artist Damion Wolfe in an unplugged performance. His set is 40 minutes long and starts at 8:15 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

The Baltimore Banner thanks its sponsors. Become one.

Menorah lighting

The Chabad of White Marsh and The Avenue at White Marsh are hosting their fourth annual Menorah lighting at the shopping district on Honeygo Boulevard. The event will feature doughnuts, latkes, ice skating and music. The hourlong event starts at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 26, the second night of Hanukkah. It is free to attend.

A Chanukah Spectacular

You can celebrate Hanukkah and sway to Jewish music performed by Grammy award-winning “kindie” rock singer Joanie Leeds at The Gordon Center for Performing Arts in Owings Mills. A magician called The Amazing Max will be there to pull a few tricks. The event will feature glitter tattoos, an olive oil demonstration and a reading with PJ Library, a program that sends Jewish children’s books to families monthly. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $22.

Interfaith comedy

The Gordon Center also is hosting an interfaith comedy hour Thursday where comedians will mock their own religions, but no one else’s. The event is part of Interfaith Comedy’s 90-minute “clean” comedy show, which tours nationally. The event is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Plane and train garden

The Maryland Aviation Association will host its 10th annual Holiday Plane and Train Garden at the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum in Middle River, where people can marvel at the transportation wonders of recent history. Minions and famous Marylanders are tucked into displays for scavenger hunts. The free event has run all month and will continue until Jan. 5.
