The newest season of the hit reality TV show “Survivor” features two castaways from Maryland, according to CBS Entertainment.

Gabe Ortis, 26, from Baltimore, and Terran “TK” Foster, 31, from Prince George’s County, will join 16 others in a competition to be the sole survivor and claim a $1 million prize.

The group will initially be split into three tribes of six, according to CBS. The cast also includes Jon Lovett, one of the founders of Crooked Media and a former speechwriter for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Ortis may be familiar to folks around town — he hosted shows including “Flock Talk” and “Two Way Talk” on WEAA. Ortis told Entertainment Weekly that leaving a major radio station to appear on “Survivor” was “best sad decision I ever made.”

Ortis was also hired as a campaign spokesperson for Sheila Dixon during her failed mayoral bid in 2023.

Ortis, in a video introducing himself as a “Survivor” cast member, said he wants to bring back an old cliche of the show: Cast members aren’t on the island to make friends.

Being a talk show host, he said, is nearly a perfect background for coming into a social, strategic game like “Survivor.” Ortis said it’s taught him when its his time to “take up all the air in the room” and when it’s time to let someone else take all the attention.

“It’s all about working people,” Ortis said in the video. “I don’t care about these people. They don’t mean anything to me before this game and if they don’t mean anything to me after this game, it’s not going to change my life at all.”

Ortis added he joined the cast to build a legacy in the game he loves and to walk away with the prize money.

“That’s it,” he said.

Foster, a marketing manager for athletes, told Entertainment Weekly he’s “kind of a nerd at heart.”

In a video introducing himself, Foster said he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called FSGS. Multiple doctors told him he wouldn’t survive, Foster said.

“I don’t really care what adversity I face, I’m just excited to be in all of this,” he said.

The season filmed earlier this year, between May and June. It will air on CBS networks and be available for streaming on Paramount+.

The newest season of “Survivor” features no returning players in the announced cast and premieres with a two-hour episode on Sept. 18. Beginning Sept. 25, the series will shift to weekly, 90-minute episodes.

The castaways are described by CBS as fans of the reality show, who will “bring fresh perspectives to this new era of the game.”
