“The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Karen Huger has entered a “private recovery program” weeks after being found guilty in a DUI incident that happened last March.
Huger’s team announced the news after it was revealed that she missed the taping of the reality television show’s Season 9 reunion, which took place Thursday.
“Karen made the important decision to enter a private recovery program, so was unable to attend the reunion taping today,” her manager shared with “The Daily Dish,” a Bravo TV podcast. “We stand behind Karen as she embarks on this meaningful journey and are proud of her for taking such a significant step forward in her personal growth.”
Huger, 61, was found guilty last month of driving under the influence, negligent driving, failure to control her vehicle’s speed to avoid a collision, and failure to notify authorities of a change in address. She now faces up to two years in prison and will be sentenced on January 29.

The DUI happened on March 19, 2024, in Potomac when Huger, driving her 2017 Maserati, struck a median and crosswalk sign at an intersection before colliding with a parking sign and stopping just off the road.
The reality television star, who has been on the Bravo show since 2016, maintained her innocence while shooting Season 9, which is currently airing but filmed from April through August of 2024.

By missing the reunion taping, Huger, who calls herself the “Grand Dame of Potomac,” put her future on the show in jeopardy. Usually cast members are not asked back if they miss a reunion.
Though her cast mates haven’t yet commented on the decision, on a Monday episode of their podcast “Reasonably Shady,” current cast member Gizelle Bryant and former cast member Robyn Dixon spoke about Huger’s DUI.
“I don’t think those that are familiar with that person were shocked by what we saw,” Dixon said, speaking about the body camera footage of Huger that was released after the trial ended. “I know what I saw. I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s par for the course.’”

As she was dropped off at the police station, the reality TV star, according the body camera footage, asks an officer, “Do you know who I am?” Struggling to get out of the car and into the station, Huger remarks to the same officer: “Oh, God, I’m lit.”
In later footage at the police station, Huger slurs her words and appears confused. “I will stay in jail for a year or two,” she says defiantly. “I am Thomas Jefferson’s concubine.”
Dixon, Huger’s former cast mate, said she was “not shocked by the nonsense coming out of her mouth,” on the “Reasonably Shady” podcast.
“I’m not shocked by the denials and the deflections and, you know, that apparently were happening from the jump,” she told Bryant. “I’m not surprised.”
Huger’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, told TMZ that Huger and her team were “disappointed in the jury’s verdict” but “of course respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case.”
He added, “We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf.”
