Food safety officials announced that Impero Foods & Meats, a Baltimore-based food processing and distribution company, has recalled 7,485 pounds of raw pork sausage because it wasn’t properly inspected.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, raw pork sausage items produced by Impero from Oct. 3 to Dec. 19 were processed without inspection. This means the FSIS did not inspect the meat and it could have been processed without meeting safety standards. No reports of illnesses have been tied to the meat, officials said.

The recalled products are 10-pound cases of Old World Italian Sausage, one with “rope” written on it and the other with “link” written on it. The establishment number of the recalled items is EST. 10827, and they’ve been shipped to restaurants in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

The cases will likely have the label shown. The FSIS warns these products should be thrown away.
