Maryland voters chose Angela Alsobrooks as the first Black woman to represent the state in the U.S. Senate, passed an abortion amendment to the state’s constitution and Baltimoreans rejected a David Smith-backed effort to reduce the size of the City Council on Election Day.
Marylanders also voted for Democrat Johnny Olszewski Jr. over Republican candidate Kim Klacik in the 2nd Congressional District and made Sarah Elfreth the youngest woman in state history elected to Congress.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott was reelected for a second term as some city ballot measures remain undecided.
