Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has been ruled out of the team’s wild-card-round game Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers after missing his third straight practice with a knee injury, coach John Harbaugh said Thursday.

Flowers, the team’s top receiver, was injured in the first half of the Ravens’ Week 18 game against the Cleveland Browns, a victory that secured Baltimore’s AFC North title.

The injury happened when Flowers’ foot got caught on a teammate’s leg as he was falling after making a catch and running with the ball. He clutched his right knee and did not return. NFL Network reported he was believed to have a knee sprain, which Harbaugh would not confirm.

Harbaugh said Monday it was a day-to-day knee injury and that Flowers would do everything he could to get back “as soon as he can.” Since then, Flowers has not been on the practice field and has been seen limping around the locker room. After ruling him out Thursday, Harbaugh said Flowers has been “locked in” on his rehab.

“Every time I walk in, he’s working on it,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll see how it looks next week.”

Flowers leads the Ravens with 74 catches for 1,059 yards. Tight end Mark Andrews has the second-most catches, 55 for 673 yards, and wide receiver Rashod Bateman has the second-most receiving yards with 45 catches for 756 yards.

Flowers, who became the fastest Ravens receiver to hit 100 career catches, earned his first Pro Bowl nod this season. Saturday’s game will be the first he misses.

Asked earlier in the week about the possibility of missing Flowers against Pittsburgh, Harbaugh said there won’t be any one person to make up for his absence.

“We’ll move forward with the guys we have,” Harbaugh reiterated Thursday, “and we’re excited about the guys we have, which is everybody else.”

Although Flowers is the leader in receiving yards on the season, other wide receivers, tight ends and running backs have finished as the team’s top receiver in individual games.

“It shows that, as a team, we’re built to last,” Bateman said. “We’re built so anybody can make plays and be successful. So, no matter who’s on the field, I really trust and believe we can get the job done.”

Bateman, who scored against the Browns after Flowers’ injury, will take over as wide receiver one, Harbaugh said. Andrews and running back Derrick Henry, who were also a key part of the Ravens’ dominant fourth quarter against the Browns, could take on bigger workloads.

Bateman said the players were aware of Flowers’ situation and now it’s “next man up.” He’s excited for the opportunity, even though he’ll miss having his “partner in crime” on the field Saturday.

“Positions and moving around on the field might change, but as far as being a receiver, the No. 1 job doesn’t change: go out and make plays,” he said. “So that’s what I’m looking forward to doing.”

Other than Bateman and Andrews, the Ravens have wide receivers Nelson Agholor, Tylan Wallace, rookie Devontez Walker and Steven Sims on the roster, along with tight ends Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar.

Running back Justice Hill has returned to practice after dealing with a concussion and injury, and he often figures into the passing game. Harbaugh mentioned Hill’s return when discussing Flowers’s absence.

“I think it helps a lot,” Harbaugh said. “Justice is an experienced player. He’s been in these games before. He’s really versatile in terms of what he can do, skill set-wise. I mean, he can take some of those jobs you’re talking about that Zay does. He’s in the backfield, out of the backfield, you can put two backs back there. He just gives you a lot of options.”

The Ravens also might get wide receiver Deonte Harty back from injured reserve. He had two full practices this week and was listed on the injury report as questionable. Safety Kyle Hamilton and Hill, who were on the injury report this week, are good to go.

The Steelers will be missing three players, although none is a major contributor. Linebacker Cole Holcomb, defensive lineman Logan Lee and wide receiver Roman Wilson have been ruled out. Two linemen, Calvin Anderson and Mason McCormick, are questionable.
