In what can only be described as a Christmas Eve miracle, after three weeks of appearances on HBO’s “Hard Knocks: In Season With the AFC North” that ranged from fleeting to supplementary, the Ravens finally took center stage in Tuesday’s fourth episode.

The team’s preparation for Saturday’s showdown against the division-leading Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as the 34-17 win in Baltimore, was heavily featured. It was a pull-back-the-curtains kind of episode, with footage of Ravens coach John Harbaugh working out, quarterback Lamar Jackson feeling confident in practice, Ravens coaches discussing their game plan and a handful of one-on-one interviews.

Here’s what you might’ve missed.

Most on-the-nose metaphor

“Hey, John, how hard is it to come back from a two-game deficit in the AFC North in December?”

Best Ravens quote

Ravens wide receivers coach Greg Lewis on game-planning for star Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt: “Inflict your will onto them. Make sure, when we are chipping, all right, we knock the shit out of [No.] 90. Just knock the shit out of his ass and make him mad.”

Watt finished the game with four tackles and no quarterback hits.

Best non-Ravens quote

Surprise, surprise. It’s Steelers coach Mike Tomlin again, addressing Watt during a defensive meeting about stopping Jackson: “He can’t have a good day. We can’t coexist, T.J. Your gold-jacket agenda and his gold-jacket agenda can’t exist in the North like this.”

The scene also delivered this fun PowerPoint slide: “MR. JACKSON CAN’T HAVE A GOOD DAY.”

But that’s still a runner-up to this gem from Ravens coordinator Zach Orr’s defensive meeting: “DISCIPLINED, ASS-KICKING DEFENSE.”

Most unexpected speaking role

That would be Ravens defensive analyst Noah Riley, who works with pass game coordinator Chris Hewitt and secondary coach Doug Mallory. In this episode, his breakdown of Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson’s passing tendencies got the spotlight: “It’s 3-pointers and layups, right? There’s no midrange with this dude. He throws that intermediate ball the least in the NFL. Throws the deep ball more than anyone in the NFL. We shut that down, we take a big part of what they do away. Make them beat us left-handed.”

Most ominous shot

The Steelers entered the fourth quarter trailing 24-17. They were outscored 10-0 to end the game. Not what Tomlin had in mind during this team meeting.

Most ominous quote

In a meeting, Tomlin highlighted the importance of covering Ravens tight end Mark Andrews near the goal line: “If we not paying attention to [No.] 89 in this red area, man, shame on us.”

Well, Andrews caught a third-quarter touchdown after the Steelers forgot to pay attention in the red zone.

Most prophetic quotes

Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken and Harbaugh were singing the same tune throughout the week. In an offensive meeting, Monken told the unit: “Let’s talk about how we win this game. We win the turnover battle, we win. That’s why we’ve lost. We have turned the ball over. Everybody that touches the ball has our playoff lives in their hands.”

In a defensive meeting, Harbaugh doubled down on the importance of creating your own turnover luck: “If that ball comes out, we want to be there to recover it, everybody agree with that? So that’s really going to be important, man. Get the ball when it comes out.”

And, early in Saturday’s game, he told players: “Hey, they’re going to put the ball on the ground. Let’s be there to get it. Listen, run to the ball. They’re going to put the ball on the ground. Let’s be there to get it, all right? They’re putting the ball on the ground. Bank on it.”

The Steelers fumbled twice and recovered only one. The Ravens fumbled three times and recovered all three.

Best troll job

We thought it was cornerback Marlon Humphrey holding the ball out in front of Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III, tauntingly, as he ran back his fourth-quarter interception for a touchdown. It might’ve actually been wide receiver Zay Flowers celebrating in front of former Ravens inside linebacker Patrick Queen after Jackson’s second-quarter touchdown pass to wide receiver Rashod Bateman.

Best prediction

As the old saying goes, “You’re not a Raven until you beat the Steelers.” Flowers was keenly aware of his 0-3 career record against Pittsburgh. “I’m going to become a Raven this week,” he said. “I tell you, I’m going to become a Raven this week.”

Humphrey’s got a lot going on here.

Notables

  • Unsurprisingly, the release of former Steelers and Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson a day before Saturday’s game was not mentioned. Surprisingly, the absence of injured Steelers wide receiver George Pickens was also not remarked upon.
  • Flowers joked that Jackson’s near-wardrobe malfunction the week before, against the New York Giants, happened because “he used to be 235 [pounds]. They gave him pants too big.”
  • Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin was in awe watching highlights of Ravens running back Derrick Henry: “He just makes it look so easy, getting away from folks.”
  • Tomlin called Humphrey and safety Kyle Hamilton “bell cows” for the Ravens’ defense.
  • Harbaugh told Monken, general manager Eric DeCosta and Jackson before kickoff that he was “high-fives and smiles.” As he explained to Jackson: “They may make a play, they may not, but when they do, we’re making the next play. High-fives and smiles, keep everybody loose.”
  • Tomlin called former Ravens defensive lineman Haloti Ngata, a veteran of the rivalry and an onlooker at Saturday’s game, “as scary a Raven as [there’s] ever been.”
  • Jackson was distraught after his fourth-quarter interception. “Damn, bruh,” he said as he reviewed the play on the bench. “Everybody open. Everybody open.”
  • After the game, Ravens inside linebacker Roquan Smith embraced Queen on the field. “Stay healthy, boy,” he told him. “We’ll see y’all boys soon.” There’s a chance — a small one, anyway — that the Ravens will see Pittsburgh again as soon as the wild-card round.
