“Looks like a long, cold winter in Ohio,” said “Hard Knocks” narrator Liev Schreiber. And by the episode’s end, the same would be true for a certain AFC North city in western Pennsylvania.

The first postseason edition of “Hard Knocks: In Season With the AFC North” began with a farewell to the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals and ended with the Pittsburgh Steelers getting knocked out by the Ravens in the wild-card round, leaving the Ravens as the final AFC North team in the playoffs.

That also means they’re the only team left for the show to follow once the Steelers clean out their lockers.

With the Browns and Bengals out to start the show, the Ravens-Steelers matchup dominated episode seven. It was the third time the rivals played each other this season, but it had the highest stakes.

“Hard Knocks” played the two teams off each other, going from one team studying a film clip to the other team studying the same clip, from one coach’s inspirational speech to the other’s.

Here are some of the highlights from the first knock-out round of Hard Knocks:

Sportsmanship award

Last week, “Hard Knocks” revealed a touching moment between Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and Ravens rookie tackle Roger Rosengarten. This week featured a similar moment but with much bigger names.

After the playoff game, two-time MVP Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson pushed his way through the crowd to seven-time Pro Bowler and reigning Walter Payton Man of the Year Cam Heyward.

“Big Cam!” he yelled. “I need one of them jerseys, OG! Damn, bro, you a Hall of Famer, bro.”

That moment was matched by one between the coaches. Ravens coach John Harbaugh and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, the two longest-tenured coaches in the league, shared a bro hug before the game where Tomlin asked if the two of them would be tied together for life. Harbaugh laughed and said it was a “beautiful thing.”

These two teams may hate each other, but clearly the respect is strong, as Harbaugh also states himself in a team meeting.

Cinematic moment

“Hard Knocks” covered the final press conferences and meetings of the Ohio teams followed by locker room clean out.

They caught Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on his way out of the facility and stopping to sign one last football for a teammate before walking out the door.

Best advice

Baltimore got hit with a snowstorm to start the week, but playoff prep doesn’t stop. The players and coaches still had to go into the facility.

Apparently, Harbaugh hit some difficult stretches on his way there, so he decided to ask the resident expert for advice.

“Urb, you want to give them a driving lesson? Any tips?” he asked one of the team’s two Canadians, defensive end Brent Urban.

“It’s simple,” Urban, a one-time hockey player, replied. “It’s simple. Don’t go too fast. Don’t brake too hard.”

None of the players showed up with mysterious injuries on the injury report, so they must have listened to him.

Cause for concern

Let’s preface this by nothing that Harbaugh has said Jackson should be good to go against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round Sunday.

However, during the Steelers game, he took a knee to the back and went down hard. Similar to Zay Flowers’ injury the week before, hearing the audio of it made it seem even worse.

His teammates seemed very worried, as well. A bunch of them, including wide receiver Rashod Bateman and tight end Isaiah Likely, went running over to him, checking on him and begging him to be OK in a very touching scene. Likely helped him up, but then Jackson brushed them all off and went on to play the rest of the game.

Off-the-field moment

The holidays provided past “Hard Knocks” episodes with some great outside-the-facility scenes. This week, they had to get creative, and they found a very fun storyline.

They followed Kiya, Tomlin’s wife, to her design store, providing an unexpected infusion of art and fashion into a football-based show. While it was cool to see her work, the funniest part was hearing her talk about the “Coach T Collection.”

The shirts are based off sayings from Tomlin’s press conferences. “Hard Knocks” did a great job of illustrating this, cutting from her showing the shirt and reading the quote to Tomlin saying the quote in press conferences. The best part about it is Tomlin is not a fan of his wife trolling him with her designs.

Biggest shock

If we made bingo cards for “Hard Knocks” episodes (which would actually be quite fun), I certainly would not have had Jackson wanting to stay out in the cold on mine.

At his press conference during the week, Jackson told reporters he truly believes that no players like to hit in the cold.

However, a mic’d-up Harbaugh said in conversation that Jackson wanted to remain outside to be able to get his timing and throws down in the cold and with the wind.

Sick highlight

The game was full of them, and running back Derrick Henry was responsible for many. He had the touchdown run where he stiff-armed Minkah Fitzpatrick and the other where he left the Steelers trailing behind him.

But the sickest play in slow motion might have actually been Likely’s catch followed by a windmilling stiff-arm.

Behind the calls

This episode might have included more comments from the two head coaches about the play calls.

Multiple times, Tomlin predicted exactly what would happen. He called a quarterback keeper, telling his coaches to make sure they contained Jackson, and he also called the final first-half pass to running back Justice Hill.

Unfortunately for him, his foresight was fruitless, as both plays were a success. In fact, Hill was completely open.

The show included Harbaugh’s reactions to the Hill play, as well. Jackson worked his magic to extend the play until he could find the open target, and the mics caught Harbaugh telling Jackson to throw it away. Instead, he threw a touchdown pass. Harbaugh laughed at himself after.

Notables

  • After disappointing seasons, coaches in both Ohio teams were fired. In Cleveland, the quarterbacks coach breaks the news to his players that offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey has been let go. He tells them to reach out to him, shedding some light into how things are handled following firings.
  • In the Steelers film room, Tomlin points to linebacker Roquan Smith as someone to be aware of. He said he’s always listening and has played them enough that he will be able to read them and predict calls better. Smith is the vocal leader of the defense, and it was a neat look into how other teams perceive him.
  • Tomlin showed a clip of cornerback Joey Porter Jr. making an interception against the Ravens last season. Linebacker Patrick Queen, who was on the Ravens at the time of that play, is at the bottom of the screen, and you can see him turn around and make eye contact with Porter. The cornerback gives him a little nod and grin.
  • Jackson is mic’d up for the game, proving that he truly is a very straight-forward leader with no embellishments on his in-game speeches, as his teammates have said. He also apparently was cackling as he ran for one of the early first downs.
  • “Hard Knocks” showed several highlights from multiple angles and at different speeds, but the best might have been the second Henry touchdown run. They showed the entire thing in slow motion from a profile view where you have plenty of time to enjoy all the expressions he makes as he runs toward the end zone.
  • Henry gave two (quick) speeches to open and close this episode. Toward the beginning, Harbaugh asks the belated birthday boy for words of wisdom. Henry gives a speech about winning or going home. He echoes that sentiment in his post-game speech after he is given a game ball. “One day at a time,” he tells his teammates.
