Mark Andrews is alone at the top.
With a 13-yard touchdown to open the scoring against the New York Giants on Sunday, the tight end took sole possession of the top spot for most touchdowns (48) scored by a Raven. His score gave the Ravens a 7-0 lead.
Prior to Sunday, he was tied at 47 with running back Jamal Lewis. Andrews and the Ravens have three more games left in the regular season, and Andrews has one more year on his contract to build a solid lead ahead of anyone who might come after him. He’s the only tight end currently leading an NFL franchise in career touchdowns.
“Mark Andrews is just one of a kind,” coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday when asked about how he’s been so consistent through his seven-year career. “He has the nickname ‘Mandrews,’ as you guys all know, for a reason, because that’s what he brings. He’s all ball; he’s all ball all the time. Everything he does is ... you can just tell he thinks about [football] driving home, driving into work, probably while he’s sleeping. He probably dreams about it. He eats football, sleeps football for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That’s really who he is.”
Andrews, 29, missed seven games last season due to an ankle injury. He came into the 2024 season with 40 touchdowns.
One of quarterback Lamar Jackson’s favorite targets, Andrews had a surprisingly slow start to the season. He’s had two or fewer targets in four games, and he had zero catches in back-to-back games against the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills in weeks 3 and 4. However, he’s seen a slight uptick in targets in recent weeks, and he had two amazing catches through traffic in the Ravens’ most recent game, a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The TD catch gave Andrews 44 catches for 503 yards and eight touchdowns this season.
