Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made his debut at training camp Wednesday, although for a shortened session.

After missing the first three practices of training camp, Jackson returned to the Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills for the team’s final session before Friday’s fully padded practice.

Jackson left the field early, a little more than halfway through, and went inside the practice facility.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken was unaware of the reason for Jackson’s early exit from practice, but he was excited to see the team’s star quarterback back in action.

“It was great having him there, I’m not tied in to where he is at this moment, but it was great to have him back in meetings and on the field,” Monken said.

With Jackson involved in the offseason planning around the team’s offensive scheme, the Ravens are not worried about being behind in their training schedule with Jackson’s absence, Monken said. It gave the other quarterbacks the chance to get more reps in the opening week of camp.

Coach John Harbaugh said after practice Monday that the team hadn’t changed its approach with the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player sidelined.

“We just stay right on schedule, and he’ll merge in right when he gets here,” Harbaugh said. “That’s what you do with anybody, really, in that situation.”

Backup Josh Johnson had led the first-team offense in Jackson’s absence, with rookies Devin Leary and Emory Jones also taking on increased roles. The defense was a step ahead of the offense through the first three practices, especially Monday’s, when it had a handful of interceptions.
