Mountcastle’s 0-for-5 game Monday night was surprising. His two-homer, five-RBI night in the Orioles’ 10-1 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday was not.

Austin Hays’ first two homers of the season propel Orioles past Blue Jays
Hays is hitting .294 since returning from the injured list on May 13, including three multi-hit games. This game in Toronto was the clearest sign that Hays was on the right track.

Sam Gomes was an old-school baseball coach at Santa Rosa Junior College who had high standards for his players. His approach worked, sending more than 50 catchers off to four-year colleges — including Hyde and Cossins.

Orioles pitchers John Means and Tyler Wells need elbow surgery, will miss rest of season
