Wells’ velocity sat at 92.7 mph and topped out at 94.3, on par with 2023, when he was one of the Orioles’ most consistent starters in the first half of the season.

“He’s been miserable not being able to help us this year, been very miserable kind of watching this thing, and how it’s gone and he finally gets a chance to help,” interim manager Tony Mansolino said.
“You have a gut feeling in your heart when you sign somebody,” Orioles scout Gerardo Cabrera said. “We felt that he was going to be impressive. You had that feeling that he’s different.”
One of the best closers in the game two years ago, Bautista is staring at a recovery time of 12 months or more, and that’s only if everything goes as planned.
Everything seemed to be going well for Bautista as he pitched to a 2.60 ERA in 34 2/3 innings with 19 saves. Then he felt shoulder pain following the All-Star break.
“It just didn’t work out, that’s kind of the nature of the game in that sense," Mullins said of the 2025 Orioles. "Very talented group and I see it happen amongst other sports, really good group of guys can’t quite put it together when they need to.”
