Central Maryland was spared major flooding Thursday, with storms bringing moderate rainfall and minor high-water reports before moving south by evening.
Anne Arundel County saw 1 to 1.5 inches of rain, while Baltimore City and Baltimore County recorded 1.5 to 2.5 inches, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Cody Ledbetter.
Weather officials observed minimal flooding of Bread and Cheese Creek in Baltimore County, Ledbetter said.
The storm has weakened and moved south, Ledbetter said.
Northwestern Anne Arundel County, Northeastern Baltimore City and Southeastern Baltimore County were under a flash flood warning until 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
Baltimore County Fire Department officials are investigating if a lightning strike sparked an apartment fire in Pikesville that left several pets dead and 16 people displaced.
The storms, which started around 2 p.m. Thursday, came after nearly 4 inches of rain showered Baltimore County on Wednesday.
Inclement weather interrupted the BMW Championship in Owings Mills and the Orioles game against the Seattle Mariners in Baltimore.
