The Maryland Transit Administration said it will start single-tracking subway trains “as quickly as possible” after a partial derailment Monday disrupted service.

The agency plans to fully restore service on the line by the end of the week. In the meantime, there is a bus bridge in place between the Owings Mills and Penn-North stations, the agency said.

Initial findings from a MTA investigation into a Metro Subway car that partially derailed on Monday evening indicate an equipment or track infrastructure failure was not to blame, the agency said.

The above-ground derailment was reported by a subway operator as a railcar approached the Rogers Avenue station platform, a transit spokesman said Monday. City fire crews responded a call around 6 p.m. at the 5800 block of Wabash Avenue, according to spokeswoman Blair Adams.
