For kids of the ‘90s, late-night horror was epitomized by HBO’s ”Tales from the Crypt.” But did you know that hilarious cackling corpse called the Cryptkeeper has a Baltimore connection?

Enter comedian and Baltimore-born John Kassir, voice of HBO’s legendary expired emcee.

Kassir, a graduate of Towson University’s theatre program, fondly remembers childhood Halloweens trick-or-treating and brainstorming costumes with his mom. He remains a huge fan of the Ravens and Orioles, and continues to root for them even though he lives in Los Angeles.

As we make our way through the spooky month of October, we caught up with Kassir and the hauntingly memorable voice so many fans have grown to love and fear.

Look out for the answer to this question: They say eyes are the windows to the soul. If you looked deep into the Cryptkeeper’s eyes, the gaze of what pint-sized ’80s film’s serial killer would be staring back at you?
