Enjoy the Glamburgers, chicken Madeira and almost 40 varieties of cheesecake while you can: The Cheesecake Factory, one of the last holdouts of Baltimore’s changing Inner Harbor, will soon serve its last dish after nearly three decades in operation.

The 201 E. Pratt St. restaurant will close on Jan. 24, 2026, resulting in the loss of 115 jobs, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice posted Thursday to the Maryland Department of Labor’s website. A manager at the location referred questions to the company’s corporate headquarters.

The “difficult decision” to close was made following “extensive review and analysis,” said Alethea Rowe, senior director of public relations and global branding for The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated, in a statement. The company will assist staff members in finding other jobs, including transfers to other branches of the franchise. “We have truly enjoyed being a part of the Inner Harbor community over the last 29 years,” Rowe said.

The chain, synonymous with its expansive menu that features more than 250 items — complete with calorie counts — became a favorite hub for tourists and others stopping by the city’s waterfront during its time in Baltimore. In its heyday, customers might wait hours for a table. But things have quieted down since. During a snowy lunchtime service Friday, only a few tables were occupied.

The restaurant opened here in 1996, taking the place of Nickel City Grill near the World Trade Center on the far east end of Harborplace. It drew a favorable review in The Baltimore Sun that year for its “tasteful” decor, service and enormous portions of food, which was “California casual produced with pizazz.”

While city leaders originally billed Harborplace, the brainchild of visionary architect James Rouse, as a hub for local businesses, the development was soon overtaken by chains like Cheesecake Factory as well as its upstairs neighbor, Pizzeria Uno.

But Cheesecake Factory hung on even as its peers like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Hooters shut their doors.

The surrounding Harborplace development is set to undergo a major overhaul courtesy of MCB Real Estate. In the meantime, several small, locally owned eateries have set up shop in what resembles an abandoned shopping mall.

Fans of the Cheesecake Factory still have a few other local outposts to get their fix: The franchise, which started in Los Angeles, still has locations inside Towson Town Center, The Mall in Columbia and Arundel Mills.
