UPDATE: Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks are bringing their co-headlining tour to M&T Bank Stadium this fall.

The Ravens and Live Nation are holding a joint “major announcement” Thursday morning to reveal one of the year’s “biggest concerts” to be held at M&T Bank Stadium.

Maybe it’s Beyoncé? Taylor Swift? Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks?

We don’t know, but we can make some educated guesses — and speculate wildly, too.

Here’s a relevant detail, according to the announcement: The show is in the fall.

Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks

This duo is the most likely announcement, I think. Last week, they announced a tour date in Minneapolis; it’s through Live Nation and happening at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings. A few teams have made similar announcements. In November, it was the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. Last month, it was the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.

Joel and Nicks will hit Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sept. 23 — the first day of autumn — and U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Nov. 10, leaving plenty of time for a Baltimore show in between or sometime later in November and December. Consider this one my official guess.

Metallica

The heavy metal icons have a new album, “72 Seasons,” coming out later this year, and have already confirmed several tour dates in the U.S. in 2023 and 2024.

They’re headlining several NFL stadiums this year, including two nights at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, this coming November. While there are no dates listed for Baltimore yet, the band’s calendar is open following its Motown stop, all the way until May 2024.

Beyoncé

Beyoncé coming to Baltimore would be huge, obviously, but hey, she’s toured here before! ”The Formation World Tour” came to Baltimore in June 2016, and Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z brought the ”On the Run” tour to M&T Bank Stadium in 2014.

And a tour for the artist’s seventh album, ”Renaissance,” is apparently in the works. An item in an auction to benefit the WACO Theater Center — yes, really — included tickets to a summer concert, a backstage tour with the artist’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, and other perks. This one is a bit speculative, and there’s only a mention of a concert in the summer, but an artist returning to a venue they’ve already been to makes pretty good sense to me.

U2

Again, this one is a bit more speculative. But U2 did just announce a new album, called “Songs of Surrender,” with re-recorded and re-imagined versions of 40 of the band’s “seminal” songs. It’s due out in March.

And U2 performed two shows at the M&T Bank Stadium in 2011, so there’s some precedent. So hey, it makes sense for the band to revisit places they’ve toured before. A tour for the album has not been announced yet, though.

Ed Sheeran

This one is a guess, too. But the English singer-songwriter has a North American tour starting in May, with stadium dates announced all the way through September. That leaves plenty of time for a big autumn concert that the Ravens and Live Nation have promised.

Taylor Swift

Admittedly, no, I have no evidence to support this one. She’s never toured in Baltimore, but her tours did hit Washington, D.C., in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2015. The “Eras Tour” isn’t coming to the D.C. area, leaving local Swifties feeling snubbed.

And after Ticketmaster’s meltdown handling sales for Swift’s stadium dates, it stands to reason she might want to accommodate more fans, right? Right?

Of all the guesses on this list, it feels safe to say that the announcement of additional ”Eras Tour” performances would not come from Live Nation and the Ravens. That feels much more like something that Swift would announce herself — but we can dream.
