The long-vacant BGE Pavilion in the Inner Harbor’s Rash Field Park finally has a tenant.

Baltimore’s Board of Estimates on Wednesday approved the lease for OneDo Coffee Roasters to take up the 1,156-square-foot space, with an expected opening next spring.

The introduction of the Canton-based coffee shop gives visitors of the nearby Maryland Science Center another dining option. It plans to offer hand-crafted coffees and teas, sandwiches and salads.

The pavilion, located at 300 Key Highway, has not had a permanent business since the park’s grand opening in 2021. Made in Baltimore hosted its Home Run Accelerator pop-up event there.

The Baltimore Development Corp., the city’s economic development agency, worked in partnership with the local nonprofit Waterfront Partnership to find a tenant that they believed could thrive in the space and reflected the city’s diversity.

“This new location gives us the opportunity to connect with a vibrant downtown audience and contribute to the unique character of the Inner Harbor,” said Gloria Hwang, owner of OneDo Coffee Roasters, in a news release. “We are thrilled to be part of this iconic Baltimore destination and look forward to serving both locals and visitors with our carefully crafted coffee and welcoming atmosphere.”

OneDo’s other location is in the 900 block of South Lakewood Avenue.

Hwang and OneDo presented a proposal that “garnered full support” from the Baltimore Development Corp. and Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, according to the news release.

The proposal featured an “appropriate menu, solid business plan, sufficient capital, and a keen understanding of what’s needed to succeed in this space,” the release said.

Dan Taylor, managing director of business and neighborhood development at Baltimore Development Corp., said in the release that the partnership highlights the agency’s commitment to redeveloping the Inner Harbor area and Rash Field Park and its support of local minority-owned businesses.

Rash Field Park is undergoing redevelopment, with plans to begin construction on a second and final phase in October. The first phase included the addition of Jake’s Skate Park, an overlook, wildlife gardens and children’s play areas. New additions will include an open lawn, walking paths and a beach replica.
