NO. 1 ST. FRANCES 22, KAHUKU (HI) 15

In game played more than 4,800 miles from home, with an opening kickoff at 1 a.m. Eastern time, top-ranked St. Frances struggled on offense for much of the contest, before scoring two touchdowns in the final eight minutes to pull off a 22-15 victory to improve to 5-0.

Junior quarterback Michael Van Buren completed a five-yard TD toss to Kyree Benton with just 39 seconds to play in the fourth quarter for the game winner.

LASALLE (PA) 21, NO. 4 CALVERT HALL 20

A valiant comeback by Calvert Hall ended in heartbreak as LaSalle from the Philadelphia suburbs survived.

Down 21-7 in the third quarter, Calvert Hall got a 35-yard touchdown pass from Noah Brannock to freshman Chris Hewitt with 26 seconds left in regulation to bring the hosts to 21-20.

But LaSalle blocked the would-be tying extra point. The Explorers captured the Cardinals’ onsides kick and ran out the remaining time.

Calvert Hall (2-4) scored first as Brannock found Donnie Lewis, who scooted down the sidelines for a 30-yard touchdown late in the first quarter. LaSalle got a two-yard touchdown run from Gavin Muller to pull even at seven.

The Explorers (2-3) gained the lead in the third quarter as Stephen Davis got a short pass from quarterback Gavin Sidwar and went 26 yards to the end zone for a touchdown. Sidwar, a freshman, added a one-yard plunge across the goal line to extend LaSalle’s lead to 21-7 with 9:55 left in regulation.

Brannock threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Oliver Redd to pull within a score with 6:44 to play. The Cardinals got the ball back and reached LaSalle’s 20, but, on 4th-and-10, Brannock’s pass was intercepted by Mehki Johnson with 1:41 remaining.

Calvert Hall, using all but one of its remaining timeouts, regained possession with 73 seconds to play. On second-and-10, Brannock hit Hewitt on a crossing route, and Hewitt turned upfield and sped to the end zone for the touchdown.

Brannock, a senior quarterback committed to William & Mary, had three touchdown passes for the Cardinals, who lost for the third time in their last four decisions. Calvert Hall hosts Gilman in a MIAA A Conference game Oct. 14.

NO. 15 DUNDALK 42, TOWSON 0

The Owls (4-1) bounced back from last weekend’s loss at Westminster as senior running back Jordan Fiorenza rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown, and Ja Bonner threw for two scores.

Des Oxendine and Bonner also had rushing touchdowns. Bonner completed seven-of-12 for 135 yards with scoring throws to Eric Coates (two catches, 60 yards) and Kamari Brathwaite (three receptions, 51 yards).

Dundalk hosts Catonsville Friday evening.

NO. 3 MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 35, GILMAN 14

Junior quarterback Winston Watkins threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns and Mount St. Joseph’s defense forced six turnovers as the Gaels defeated Gilman, 35-14, in a MIAA A Conference contest in Roland Park.

Watkins (21-of-31) threw two scores to Avery Jones, including a 59-yarder on the game’s second play from scrimmage. Watkins connected with Denver Fauntleroy from 13 yards for a 14-0 advantage in the first quarter.

The Gaels (4-2 overall, 2-0 MIAA A) extended the lead to 21-0 midway through the second as Watkins threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Youngbar. The drive was setup by Tom Brandel’s fumble recovery off Carter Davis’ strip.

Davis, a defensive back committed to Boston College, got a fumble recovery after Gilman’s muffed the ensuing kickoff. The Gaels converted it into a Zion Williams two-yard touchdown.

Mount St. Joseph took its first possession of the second half 65 yards in 12 plays as Watkins connected for a second time with Jones (four catches, 99 yards) to start a running clock with 4 minutes, 40 seconds left in the third quarter.

Gilman (3-3, 0-2 MIAA A) finally got on the scoreboard late in the third quarter on Sebastian Chaney’s nine-yard touchdown run. Late in the fourth quarter, Greyhounds senior quarterback Matt Parker (14-of-20, 155 yards) threw for a seven-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Jackson Cheatham (five receptions, 79 yards).

Parker was intercepted four times, twice by Davis. Greg Roman and Deshawn Womack each recorded an interception, and Deshaun Merrick had two quarterback sacks.

The Gaels along with Spalding (2-0) and McDonogh (1-0) sit atop the MIAA A standings. Mount St. Joseph hosts McDonogh Oct. 15. Gilman travels to Spalding this Friday.

NO. 5 MILFORD MILL 58, WOODLAWN 0

Deshawn Purdie threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns and Sean Williams rushed for three touchdowns as Milford Mill won its 13 straight regular season decision.

Williams had 11 carries for 120 yards and a reception for 78 yards. Daysen Shell caught three passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns for the Millers (5-0).

Purdie, a junior verbally committed to the University of Maryland, added a rushing touchdown. Keion Sutton and Ladianian Blackwell each scored for the Millers, who have outscored opponents, 233-29.

Milford Mill hosts New Town next Saturday.

Carson Petitbon rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another, and Wyatt Cotton rushed for 95 yards as St. Mary’s moved to 2-0 in MIAA B Conference play.

Petitbon rushed for 78 yards, and threw a scoring pass to senior Casey Smith. Pat Cary rushed for 48 yards for the undefeated Saints.

Cam Shortridge, Gabriel Villatoro and Dylan Carl each had an interception for St. Mary’s, which is tied for first with No. 8 Concordia Prep (2-0 MIAA B). The Saints play Mount Carmel at CCBC-Essex next Saturday before hosting Concordia Prep Oct. 14 in Annapolis.

NO. 10 BROADNECK 49, NORTH COUNTY 26

Sophomore running back Ian Mauldin rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns, and Cam Catterton threw for two scores as Broadneck remained undefeated in Anne Arundel County play.

One of Mauldin’s scores went for 90 yards for the Bruins (4-1, 3-0 Anne Arundel), who won their fourth straight since an opening week loss at No. 2 Spalding. Catterton threw for 174 yards, including scoring passes to Machi Evans (73 yards) and Joe Smargissi (19).

Broadneck, which has won 10 straight Anne Arundel regular season decisions, hosts Annapolis Friday.

The senior backfield of Miles Scott and Dillan Watkins did all the damage as Atholton (5-0) easily cleared a hurdle to first-place showdown in Howard County.

The Raiders scored all their points in the opening half as Scott threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Ian Morton to open the scoring and 50 yards to Watkins on a screen pass in the second quarter. Scott scored on a one-yard run following a 30-yard pass to Nicholas Ngo.

Watkins, a senior running back, scored on runs of nine and two yards. The Raiders host undefeated River Hill (5-0) Friday evening in Columbia.

After an upset victory at home last weekend, Westminster had to rally on the road for victory in a Carroll County Athletic League contest. Kyrece Walker and Mason Fisher accounted for the Owls’ points.

Westminster (4-1, 1-1 CCAL), which defeated then-No. 12 Dundalk, trailed 7-0 in the first quarter on Jake Boog’s 54-yard touchdown pass to Blake Ray for Manchester Valley. The scoring play followed Marquise Morris’ interception for the host Mavericks (1-4, 0-3 CCAL).

The Owls tied in the second quarter as Walker scored on a two-yard run. Late in the third, Walker found Fisher down the sidelines for a 49-yard score, giving the Owls the lead.

Fisher, running a jet sweep, got free and went 63 yards to the end zone with 1:20 left in regulation to put the game away for the Owls.

AJ Rodrigues scored two touchdowns and Caleb Blum added a rushing score as South Carroll remained undefeated with a road win in Frederick.

The Cavaliers (5-0) led 10-0 at halftime on a 28-yard touchdown run by Rodrigues and Ryan Carrado’s field goal. South Carroll extended the lead to 16-0 in the third quarter on Rodrigues’ second 28-yard scoring run.

Blum scored from 10 yards for South Carroll’s final score. The Cavaliers host Winters Mill in a Carroll County Athletic League contest Friday.

Cody Angelini, Rich Monath and Ryan Henneman all scored single goals as top-ranked Calvert Hall completed a regular season sweep of No. 7 McDonogh with a 3-0 home win.

The undefeated Cardinals are now 12-0-1 overall and 11-0-1 in the MIAA A Conference. McDonogh dropped to 5-7 in league play and overall.

Senior Brady Geho scored all four goals in the Friars’ 4-1 win over Spalding. Geho now has 19 goals this season. Andrew Throneburgh had two assists for Curley, while Tristan Brannock and Nick Lentz had one each.

Sammie Walkers scored two goals, including the game winner in the 70th minute to lift No. 4 Loyola to a MIAA A Conference road victory.

The teams took turns scoring, as the game was tied 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3. Walker scored the opener for the Dons, who also received goals from Cal Lackner and Danny Klink. Josh Melancon, Kris Mitchel and Elijah Brijbasi netted goals for the Greyhounds.

Loyola is now 8-2-1 (overall and in conference), while Gilman fell to 3-7-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the A Conference.
