EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Ravens safety Ar’Darius Washington, whose availability for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants became uncertain after he did not travel with the team Saturday, is active and will play.

Washington was not with the Ravens as they took a train to New Jersey because of a personal matter, according to the team. Had he missed Sunday’s game, the Ravens could’ve turned to benched starter Marcus Williams or rookie Beau Brade to fill his starting role. Instead, Williams was a healthy scratch Sunday for the second straight week.

With Washington active, the Ravens will again turn to him and Kyle Hamilton as the defense’s deep safeties. Over the past three games, Washington has not missed a snap and the Ravens have allowed just 165 passing yards per game (second in the NFL since Week 11) and 5.9 yards per pass attempt (first in the NFL).

Defensive lineman Michael Pierce, who was activated off injured reserve Saturday, will play Sunday for the first time since suffering a calf injury in a Week 8 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Along with Williams, running back Keaton Mitchell and rookie center Nick Samac are healthy scratches. Rookie outside linebacker Adisa Isaac (hamstring) and rookie safety Sanoussi Kane (hamstring) are also inactive.

The Giants ruled out five potential starters on defense: lineman Rakeem Nuñez-Roches; inside linebacker Bobby Okereke; and cornerbacks Deonte Banks, Dru Phillips and Cor’Dale Flott. Injured quarterback Drew Lock is the team’s emergency third quarterback.
