Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed practice Thursday after an injury scare but is “going to be good,” coach John Harbaugh said.
Jackson underwent an X-ray after he had his foot stepped on during Wednesday’s practice. Harbaugh said there was “no damage or anything like that” uncovered.
Jackson left practice early Wednesday and was held out of Thursday’s for precautionary reasons, but Harbaugh reiterated that the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player is “fine.”
“It was a big relief,” Harbaugh said. “I told the guys, I said, ‘Prayers do get answered,’ because I was praying. I was praying, and God came through.”

Jackson left practice Wednesday about 80 minutes into the two-hour session. He appeared to flex his right (throwing) wrist after being knocked to the ground on a drop-back, though he returned for several passing plays, including a big completion downfield and a check-down he missed badly on.
Jackson later walked off the field with strength and conditioning coordinator Scott Elliott. He stopped to chat briefly with executive vice president Ozzie Newsome before entering the facility as chief medical officer Dr. Andrew Tucker and others followed.
Offensive coordinator Todd Monken said he didn’t know what happened on the play. Neither did wide receiver Tylan Wallace.
“I was thinking, like, ‘Oh, you know, he’s just probably resting his arm, something like that,” Wallace said after Wednesday’s practice. “But obviously, we’re keeping him in our prayers and everything. I hope he’s doing great and all of that stuff. But I’m sure, Lamar being Lamar, he’ll be back before we know it.”
Jackson has not missed a game because of injury since the 2022 season. He’s also missed only one practice this training camp, for what a team spokesman said was a preplanned personal matter.
Jackson did not play in the Ravens’ preseason wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys and was not expected to play in their finale Saturday against the Washington Commanders.
The Ravens open their season Sept. 7 against the Buffalo Bills.
End zone
- Fullback Patrick Ricard, who didn’t practice this week, is expected to return next week. Harbaugh said Ricard is dealing with a “little soft-tissue thing.”
- Cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), who hasn’t participated in individual or team drills since Aug. 9, returned to practice Thursday to work on his conditioning. Along with Jackson and Ricard, the Ravens were missing wide receiver Zay Flowers (undisclosed), tight ends Mark Andrews (undisclosed) and Isaiah Likely (foot), rookie offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr. (shoulder), outside linebacker Adisa Isaac (elbow), inside linebacker William Kwenkeu (undisclosed) and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (undisclosed).
- The Ravens operated at a walk-through pace for much of Thursday’s practice, but quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Devin Leary still combined to throw three interceptions to inside linebacker Chandler Martin, cornerback T.J. Tampa and safety Sanoussi Kane.
