Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was back at practice as a full participant Tuesday, one day after missing a walk-through with a toe injury, putting him on track to play Thanksgiving night against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Two other starters who were dealing with injuries after Sunday’s win over the New York Jets also returned. Safety Kyle Hamilton, who left the game with an ankle injury, and defensive lineman Travis Jones (ankle) were both limited participants after missing Monday’s session.
Wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who was injured in Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings, was limited in the walk-through Monday and in Tuesday’s practice.
Rookie cornerback Keyon Martin (rib) was upgraded to full participation Tuesday, the team’s only full practice during the short week.
Defensive tackle Taven Bryan, who could be placed on injured reserve after suffering a minor knee injury Sunday, and running back Justice Hill (neck) were the only Ravens missing Tuesday. Game designations for Thursday’s game will be released Wednesday.
Jackson’s availability and ability have loomed over the Ravens’ five-game winning streak. He’s missed one day of practice over each of the past three weeks with lower-body injuries. Knee soreness sidelined him ahead of the Ravens’ win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 11, and he sat out last Wednesday because of an ankle injury. Jackson went on to play every offensive snap in the Ravens’ win against New York, which vaulted them to the top of the AFC North.
Jackson said after practice Tuesday that he hurt his toe in the first quarter against the Jets on a tackle. “I wouldn’t say it was intentional; we were just playing football,” he said. “Regular tackle. He just dropped all his weight on me, though.”
Jackson finished 13-for-23 for 153 yards and rushed seven times for 11 yards while taking a sack. Over the past three games, he’s completed 57.1% of his passes while averaging 174 passing yards and 19 rushing yards per game. Jackson’s thrown one touchdown and two interceptions — both off unfortunate deflections — and fumbled twice in that span. Asked Monday whether Jackson’s recent injuries had affected his play, coach John Harbaugh said he “can’t really say.”
Jackson on Tuesday called his injured toe “good.” Injury risks, he said, are “a part of the job, a part of the game, but hopefully nothing [happens] this Thursday.”
“We’re winning, so that’s what it’s all about,” he added later. “I can’t control an injury. Things like that happen. Unfortunately, it’s just happening [at] the wrong time, I believe. But we’re winning, so that’s all my focus is on.”
Harbaugh said Tuesday that Jackson “looked very good today,” but he acknowledged that he wouldn’t have a better sense for his quarterback’s comfort level until closer to game day.
Jackson, who earlier this season missed three games and about a month of practice with a hamstring injury, was asked whether his injuries feel better. He grinned and chuckled.
“I’m feeling better — in some areas.”
